Is it permissible to work for a clearing house?

Q: I need your guidance in regards to a job offer that I have received. I have been offered a job at the VP (the central securities depository in Denmark) as a relationship manager. My main responsibility would be:

•Ensuring that the clients are satisfied with the overall service they are receiving.

•Promoting and selling the companies services to new clients.

•Promoting new services to existing clients.

Would it be permissible for me to do such job?

الجواب حامدا ومصليا ومسلما ومنه الصدق والصواب

A: The job role, as described in the question, is not permissible according to shariah. The role of a clearing house principally involves facilitating interest based transactions between member firms. Therefore, to promote or sell such services as part of the job amounts to assisting in sin. Consequently, any remuneration earned for doing so will be deemed to be unlawful.
