I understand that assisting someone to buy a property using a mortgage is not permissible due to the Riba. I also understand that insurance is generally impermissible. However, if a client is taking out a mortgage to purchase a property, would income from e.g. drafting a report on the condition of the property, sending enquiries to the seller about the property be haram?

The drafting of a report on the condition of the property and sending enquiries to the seller about the property is assisting in the purchase of the property and not assistance in the procurement of a mortgage and is thus permissible.
