Can we write fictional stories?

Q:  Is it permissible to write fictional stories that touch upon Islam and the sciences to encourage the youth of the ummah and others to get to know one another and also to encourage them to take up roles in the physical sciences, whilst clearly mentioning that the novel is fiction with benefits to encourage knowledge of the Deen and improve the character of the individual – thereby increasing hope and respect for muslims?

الجواب حامدا ومصليا ومسلما ومنه الصدق والصواب

A: It is permissible to write fictional stories that impart good morals and teachings however, the following points must be kept in mind:

1. The audience must be made aware of the fictive nature of the stories.

2. There should not be any misrepresentation of a true event (i.e. adding false information to the life of the prophet (saw))

3. The content should not contravene the shariah (i.e. writing about the nakedness of a character etc).
