Q: If you had the intention to give Zakah to a specific eligible individual, but when disbursing the money some weeks later you did not have a specific Zakah intention, is this valid?
الجواب حامدا ومصليا ومنه الصدق والصواب
A: In order for Zakah to be valid one must make the intention of Zakah either at the time of putting the Zakah money to one side or when giving it to the eligible recipient. If one has not made the intention but the money is still with the recipient and has not yet been utilised then one may still make the intention of Zakah. If the money has been utilised an intention cannot now be made.
