Q: Does a woman have to pay zakat on her gold even if her and her husband do not have enough cash over the nisab? i.e. does she have to sell some gold and pay separately?

A: If the gold, individually or in conjunction with other zakatable assets from your own wealth, reaches the nisab then the gold is zakatable even if this means having to sell some of the gold. The husband is not responsible for paying zakat on the gold that belongs to the wife nor are his personal assets taken in to account when calculating the zakat liability of the wife.
