Q: Can accountants take on clients who sell alcohol?
A: It is permitted to draw up financial accounts of a client who sells alcohol. If the client is non-Muslim then the remuneration is also ritually pure. If the client is Muslim and remunerates you from the proceeds of the alcohol specifically or from a co-mingled pot of which the major portion is the proceeds of alcohol then such remuneration is ritually impure. If the Muslim client remunerates you from halal funds or from a co-mingled pot of which the major portion is halal then such remuneration is also ritually pure.
And Allah knows best.
